Mad Fashion

In honor of the 'Mad Men' season 5 premier I wanted to share some 1960's fashion inspiration. Because, well, I really like it. I know that a lot of people are on the "Mad Men train" and all so posts like this one aren't unusual. After watching the first two episodes I had to acknowledge the new Mrs. Draper, Megan (Jessica Pare). She is the total antithesis of Betty, a free spirit, artistic, seductive, and definitely not as broody. Not only does she get to make out with the ever studly Don Draper (Jon Hamm) every episode, but she speaks (and sings in) French and I just love Megan's style. It is really different from the other female characters because she is younger and has a very "Mod" flare while Betty is a lot more "Classic Preppy" for example.

Isn't she stunning? If I ever cut my hair short again I'm doing a bob like hers (shown above). It is so chic but kinda messy which is good for me because my hair is a little wild and I like a low maintenance style. I cannot tell you how much I wanted this polka dot blouse when I saw her wearing it.

Ooh La La!

I was browsing all of the vintage goodies on Etsy and decided to put together two "Megan" style outfits for fun. The first look is for work. The orange dress is similar to the one she is wearing in the photos above.

And the second outfit is the Megan Draper "party" look. I am dying for a black mini dress with bell sleeves now. I used to have one actually and both my sisters and I got a lot of use out of it and now I'm not sure what happened to it. Bummer.

Oh Megan, I can't wait to see what other fantastic frocks you have in store for us this season. You are just full of surprises aren't you?
