Recycled Jar DIY

So recently I found myself hoarding a lot of empty jars Howard Hughes style and I decided I should probably do something with them before I became that weird rabbit lady on Hoarders surrounded by empty jars, with my lipstick going waay beyond my designated lip line, and cursing while the clean up squad pulls dead rabbits out from under the trash piles. I know. Its a dark thought. Anyways, I turned them into these really adorable storage jars with chalkboard paint so they could be reused and re labeled for many different purposes. I think they turned out super cute!

SUPPLIES:

You will need: empty jars with lids, tape, chalkboard paint, spray paint, paint brush(es.

DIRECTIONS:

So first things first you are going to want to wash your jars and lids thoroughly with warm soapy water and dry them well. Then you will use your tape to mark off the area you want to paint. I made the chalkboard paint go around the entire jar so that for certain things I could add instructions on the back if I wanted to. Let them dry completely. I ended up doing 2 coats plus touch ups.

While those are drying, collect all the lids and your spray paint and head outside. Trust me you really want to spray paint your lids in a well ventilated area because those fumes can really wreck your shit if you're not careful. I learned the hard way when my boyfriend once found me practically unconscious. I'm pretty sure I secured myself a future with Alzheimer's or at least took three years off my life with that incident.

When every thing is dry. Carefully peel off the tape and your jars are ready to use!

They look so cute and they are so useful! I love that my pantry looks a little more chic too. I am of the mind set that the inside of closets and cabinets should be as pretty and organized as every thing outside them. This project was super easy, fun, and cheap. I hope you enjoy!
