Getting in the Holiday Spirit...

So I have been trying my hardest to get into the holiday spirit lately and I have found it to be very challenging this year. Normally, when the day after Thanksgiving rolls around I wake up singing Christmas carols and the scent of cinnamon seems to follow me around due to all the pumpkin chai lattes and holiday baked goods that I ingest. However this year I had to force myself to get out the holiday decor because the thought of it for some reason just exhausted me. I think maybe its because most of my days include cleaning up after two very energetic children and Im so tired at the end of my work day. Well I told myself, "no more!" I won't let myself become a Grinch or a Scrooge. I managed to pull my act together and put up all my Christmas decorations and I'm so glad I did. I guess I needed a little holiday cheer because looking around my apartment all sparkly and pretty has put me in a stinkin' fabulous mood.

I got my tree at Walmart. Its a pre-lit tree and at 6.5 feet it was a deal! I only paid $38. Thank you Walmart. Most of the ornaments I already had. The blue ones are new but the rest I have collected over the years. While I was decorating I realized that the majority of my ornaments are ballerinas or ballet themed. It was completely unplanned but now that I've noticed it I am going to continue the collection.

The nutcrackers are another thing I've collected for awhile but I need a few more. I also want to start collecting vintage santa mugs to go with the one I have. I saw a photo of an amazing collection of them online and it was so awesome I can't stop thinking about it. Plus I love starting new collections (stop wincing mother, I am not a hoarder.)

I got this little pink tree at Hobby Lobby. I love that place. All of their Christmas decor is 50% off. They have the most amazing sales. (BTW sorry for the crappy photo. I took it at night and I don't feel much like taking it over)

I made this wreath myself. I wrapped a foam wreath with white yarn and then decorated it with pink and silver pom poms, jingle bells, mini ornaments, sequins, and rhinestones. I am pretty happy with the result. The pink poinsettia below was the inspiration for the color scheme.

Well now that the decorating is done the baking can commence. Happy Sunday and goodnight.
Love, Kirsten
