Bunny Tales

So I read this article a while back about how 2013 was the year of "Shaming." Ya know, fat shaming, slut shaming, and of course Dog Shaming. I know its 2014 now but my mom sent me these Bunny Shaming photos and I just about died. So hilarious! And speaking of silly buns, my bunny broke into the food stash again so I've had to start storing the bag on top of his hutch. The little glutton. He is so cute though! I think I've only ever been mad at him for 5 seconds total.

Sammy has moved up in the world and has this spiffy new crib. We are both enjoying it. I for its cuteness and Sammy for its coziness.

I purchased this adorable wooden bunny box at an antique mall. I eyed it for a while and my mom bought it for me, lucky no one else snagged it! Its truly perfect for storing all the rabbity supplies. The, too adorable for words "peace, love , and bunny" signs were made by my little sister and add the perfect finishing touch. I am so glad he finally has such a great set up. We have struggled over the years trying to find the perfect combination of function and aesthetic. Having an "exotic" pet can definitely pose its challenges at times. They make all of these cute dog and cat pet beds and houses but finding a bunny house sucked! Even after I found the right thing I had to customize it to fit my tastes and not be a total eye sore in the home. I am finally happy and so is Sammy. He loves hopping in and out and using the ramp. What  type of home/enclosure do you other bunny/ small animal parents out there use?

Life Update

It was my birthday. I celebrated. It was swell.

My camera is busted. I will hopefully have a new one in a few weeks. This has been a major bummer for me though.

my insomnia is back and I get the feeling its looking for revenge or something. I haven't been sleeping much at all these days. I have sadly watched the sunrise too many times. I have been coping by doing a lot of work from the couch. My view looks a lot like this these days...

I also got around to painting this cruddy ol' dresser. Now its a pretty new dresser. I'm not fully done arranging things in my room but I'm happy its finally painted and for the extra storage.

before...

after...

While I was in the project spirit I managed to complete a few Pinterest projects. I always feel super bad ass if I actually get around to doing one of the things I pinned because lets be honest do any of us really have the time?
I had these cheap Ikea end tables laying around and I had seen a few chalkboard projects on Pinterest, one being a coffee table and so I coated the tops of these with chalk board paint. Now they have gone to live at my friends' coffee shop.

While I had the chalkboard paint out I painted a few wine bottles like these I saw on Pinterest

I also tried filling my scentsy warmer with Downy unstopables and
it worked and made my whole apartment smell like fresh laundry. Thank you Pinterest!

My mom and I decided to have yet another garage sale so I spent a good chunk of time going through all of my stuff one more time. I pulled out a good chunk and got it marked, bagged, and transported to my mom's garage already. I am getting less sentimental about things as I get older. I used to save every little scrap of paper but pretty soon I'm going to have like four things left. Not including my shoes of course.

Life Update

Hello everyone! I hope you are having a splendid week! I would first off like to welcome all of my new lovely followers and say hello and I'm so glad you're here! Things have been happening. Not bad things. Some really good, some new, different, and intimidating. A large amount of anxiety has been keeping me mainly in the company of family at present. I have been making plans for this blog that make me really excited! I think its important to always have things, no matter how significant, to look forward to...

#1- Lately I cannot get enough Arrested Development I can't wait until next month when the new episodes are released on Netflix.

#2- Missing people can really suck

#3- These are some super cute bunnies I made with the kiddos at work. I am going to do a blog post on kid crafts soon. Arts/crafts is a great learning/bonding activity that children love and its something I'm passionate about.

#4- My little bunny Sammy gave me quite a scare two weeks ago. I let him out of his cage to play and noticed he couldn't really hop around and he kept falling over. I rushed him to the vet and he had a parasite that was causing his symptoms. He is on a few meds for the rest of the month but he is doing so much better and can finally run and play again. It was pretty terrifying. The affliction is often referred to as "wry neck" apparently. If you are also a bunny parent here is some info on it that a friend shared with me... http://www.barbibrownsbunnies.com/ecuniculi.htm

#5- Color coordinated Target purchases.

#6- Planning fun things for this blog and searching for inspiration and getting organized.

#7- Shopping with Hot Dot (my grandmother) and eating snacks in the car. Coke and M&M's is a Kirsten special.

Right now I'm snugged up in a blanket with my new Macbook Pro eeeeep! watching The Princess Bride. I had forgotten what a gem this movie is. Goodnight y'all.

Life Update

Hello there...

Well I'm finally back to blogging and its well, the end of January but hey at least I made it before the month was over! I had a terrifically swell holiday with a cozy room to sit in with people who wanted to be around me so it was pretty much perfect. Putting away all the holiday decorations was very satisfying for me. I finally did some cleaning and re-arranging while I packed up all the Christmas stuff and my home feels so good and clutter free...

The room looks suddenly bigger and its like a fresh start which is rather fitting being that its January and all... This month has pretty much been a blur. Prepping for the V-day shop update, filling orders, crafting, snacking, and a lot of Netflix has been going down. I always watch different movies and shows while I'm working on the shop or custom orders and I have been busy the past month. I was hopping around between Portlandia, Girls, Game of Thrones, Ally McBeal and so many more. I started watching Ally McBeal on a whim over the holidays and now I just really want it to be over. I liked it at first but then the Nineties-ness of it really started to bother me and it got really formulaic and so now I am just angry watching it until its finished because my OCD requires me to see it through. I always have to finish every show and/or movie I start even if its terrible.

Lately I've been thinking a lot about New Years resolutions and how they are typically bull shit. I mean, I said I was going to blog more and here it is the end of the month, but that led me to think about what I wanted to accomplish this year. Mostly I just want to spend more time with friends and family and people I like. I want to work on my business and my art/passions while working on my teaching degree on the side and become more financially stable. Like a real grown up. That, and of course blog more, read more, cook more, and laugh more.

Weekendz

Weekends around here have been pretty great lately. Luis has been coming up and spending a lot of time here. He likes to take a break from the craziness of Orlando and enjoy the quietness of a small town for a bit. He has a pretty demanding schedule because he is studying electrical engineering and sometimes he just needs  a different place to study so he'll study while I craft and paint. Its nice having a "work" buddy. We keep each other company and act stupid. Plus Sammy enjoys it too.

I've been so busy with work lately its been kind of overwhelming me. I've started to learn how important it is for me to make time to still work on creative projects just for fun and personal growth not just specifically for work. If I don't do things to nurture my creative spirit I start to get aggravated with work and it starts to feel like a chore which is exactly what I want to avoid. When I made the choice to pursue my Etsy shop full time I knew I would be  making a lot of sacrifices like financial security and work/home separation. I knew it would be a lifestyle as well as a career. The sacrifices were worth it to me because I eat, sleep, and breath art and creating things. I absolutely love it and I never want to end up resenting the thing I love to do most. So I took some time to rearrange some things and pull out some Christmas decorations.

And I worked on this little kawaii embroidery project for fun and it was so fun and relaxing. I love taking the pressure of creating and seeing what I end up with. Sometimes I won't really think to much about it, I'll just kinda start making something based on how I feel and the result is usually pretty interesting or something that re-inspires me to get back to work.

I also worked on these paintings...

After a fun weekend and finishing these projects I almost feel refreshed. I have since started cleaning and rearranging my whole apartment and pulling out more holiday decorations. Once I finish getting my house in order I'll feel way way less overwhelmed. Everything was starting to pile up, literally, and if I didn't get a handle on it soon I was going to lose it. It was basically a hoarders starter kit in here. Anyway, I'm going to finish organizing my closet(s). Goodnight and I hope you had a lovely weekend and Veterans day.
