Weekends around here have been pretty great lately. Luis has been coming up and spending a lot of time here. He likes to take a break from the craziness of Orlando and enjoy the quietness of a small town for a bit. He has a pretty demanding schedule because he is studying electrical engineering and sometimes he just needs a different place to study so he'll study while I craft and paint. Its nice having a "work" buddy. We keep each other company and act stupid. Plus Sammy enjoys it too.
I've been so busy with work lately its been kind of overwhelming me. I've started to learn how important it is for me to make time to still work on creative projects just for fun and personal growth not just specifically for work. If I don't do things to nurture my creative spirit I start to get aggravated with work and it starts to feel like a chore which is exactly what I want to avoid. When I made the choice to pursue my Etsy shop full time I knew I would be making a lot of sacrifices like financial security and work/home separation. I knew it would be a lifestyle as well as a career. The sacrifices were worth it to me because I eat, sleep, and breath art and creating things. I absolutely love it and I never want to end up resenting the thing I love to do most. So I took some time to rearrange some things and pull out some Christmas decorations.
And I worked on this little kawaii embroidery project for fun and it was so fun and relaxing. I love taking the pressure of creating and seeing what I end up with. Sometimes I won't really think to much about it, I'll just kinda start making something based on how I feel and the result is usually pretty interesting or something that re-inspires me to get back to work.
I also worked on these paintings...
After a fun weekend and finishing these projects I almost feel refreshed. I have since started cleaning and rearranging my whole apartment and pulling out more holiday decorations. Once I finish getting my house in order I'll feel way way less overwhelmed. Everything was starting to pile up, literally, and if I didn't get a handle on it soon I was going to lose it. It was basically a hoarders starter kit in here. Anyway, I'm going to finish organizing my closet(s). Goodnight and I hope you had a lovely weekend and Veterans day.
